We have lived here for 8 months and love it so much. They have recently cut some staff which is disappointing to see but the location and apartment layouts are hard to beat.

Front desk staff and maintenance are friendly and excellent. Noise goes through walls and floors too easily. Grills and lounge amenities are great, but the decrease in gym floor space was a negative.

I've enjoyed living here. Building is quiet and relatively friendly. Great management team, 24-hour front desk coverage, quick and efficient maintenance. I love having Bethesda Lane as our "backyard."

The team has been incredibly helpful as we have found and moved into Upstairs. Very responsive to calls and helping us get deliveries, etc as we moved from out of state.

Beautiful building. Convenient. However, you can hear the noise of people and dogs barking through closed windows and doors on the lane from morning to night. Construction is wood framing so you can hear your upstairs neighbors walking around, as well as thin walls if your neighbor plays music, dog barking, or baby crying, etc.

I love living here. No one bothers me and the front desk concierge are always nice and friendly. Always willing to help. Only thing I don’t like is that the walls are so thin you can basically hear any and everything. Location is amazing you can walk to almost anything.

Love the location and proximity to restaurants, shopping and the Capital Crescent trail. Amenities after the renovations are not as good as before. Gym is much smaller to make way for a now too large package room.

We moved to Upstairs a couple of months ago and are loving it! Great building, friendly management and staff and quick response to maintenance requests and other questions and concerns. Location can’t be beat and units are very unique and spacious.

It’s okay but lots of issues, there is a huge mouse problem, manager doesnt have a good attitude and problems are resolved slowly. Honorable mention to the front desk woman with a horrible attitude!

I arrived in Bethesda on Wed. 2/12 intending to move into another property. Long story short, we chose Upstairs, in part because we had better service. Ckatherin took good care of us and hustled to turn around our application in time for a 2/14 move. All went well and I'm very happy with our new home.

I am in love with my new home. It is nice a cozy, warm feel. Just how I like my home to feel. First time I toured the apartment, is not how I felt today walking into my new home. It was an amazing feeling. Thank you for the help.

The smaller gym is s huge disappointment we waited so long and it's small and cramped and less weights. It's a real deal breaker for us. In addition there should be floors for people with pets and floors for people with out.

All shared spaces are very clean, and all staff are friendly and super nice! I’ve had no stress to take my packages because they are always organized well. I’m happy to be a part of this community!

It seems like the fire alarm goes off less frequently, and although the gate for the parking garage still malfunctions, I haven't been locked in or out for a while. The apartment itself is mostly good, but I found weird grimy stuff on the inside of the sink that was there when we moved in. Otherwise, I like this place.

I love the building and the neighborhood, but my neighbors upstairs are so noisy that I have to complain a couple of times. And these past few weeks have been a little uncomfortable for all the changes and repairs in the building, but these shall pass and everything is going to look great.

The location of this building is fantastic, with Giant directly across the street and Metro a short walk away. Plenty of good eats within a few hundred feet, too. Staff is very friendly and accommodating; concierge promptly notify of new deliveries and maintenance responds to and addresses issues within a day, typically. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience is not so great. The access card for the parking garage occasionally does not work and needs to be manually reset. Noise on the top floor is absolutely insufferable—there are a few AC units above my apartment and the noise is literally constant during summer. Maintenance has been notified but the issue remains unresolved. It drives me crazy and is the only truly deal-breaking aspect of living here. If you're getting an apartment on the top floor, make sure listen carefully for any noise, preferably during the warmer months.

Great location. Extremely walkable neighborhood. Easy Metro access. Very responsive and friendly maintenance team. Unfortunately individual apartments are unable to switch from AC to heat without maintenance assistance.

The building staff is helpful and available almost all the time. The common areas are clean and inviting. In the case of issue with appliances or plumbing, management is very responsive and ensure the issue is fixed usually within 24 hours and communicates otherwise. And it goes with out saying... but the location is stellar.

Poor quality from building management has turned this apartment into a lack-luster lease. There is a lackadaisical approach here, with no customer service training from office staff and high turnover with concierge. The building has no functional security, and regularly has broken gates for resident parking or keycards at the front, which is casually disregarded until vendors arrive and are not witnessed. Just signs of unacceptable apartment management. **Only saving grace is Donna from overnight, she is amazing. The building is an older apartment building, with the half the "amenities" completely outdated. The freight elevator and the lobby elevators are complete jerryrigged machinery. People are somehow stuck in these semi-frequently. The hallways are filthy, and the tile is completely embarrassing to see at the wall edges and corners. They can't properly train cleaning personnel on how to properly mop or maintain those areas. I do not recommend this specific building for anyone.

I love living here. Except the lack of parking for visitors. It's a major pain to have an overnight visitor -even my son visiting from out of state. Or a friend here for the weekend. It's ridiculous you don't provide any guest parking. And there IS space downstairs in the resident section. It's a huge downside.

All cleaning staff work very hard everyday, so all area are always kept super clean! Also we have so many seasonal events and enjoy them. Totally I am satisfied to be a part of this community.

I have loved living at The Upstairs. The apartments are all very nice and a great space, but I think the location itself is the strongest selling point. Everything you need is within walking distance, including local downtown Bethesda free public transit, and the metro station.

Lived here for 3 years and love it! The staff is so friendly and responsible. Would like annual carpet cleaning to be included when re signing leases. Also new lighting over the bathroom vanities.

Very nice place to rent in a very walkable area. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Good soundproofing in the walls although we hear noises from workers on the roof.

The apartment itself is really nice, and I love how Walkable it is to everything in Bethesda. The apartment also has plenty of storage space, a huge kitchen, and the views of Bethesda Row are immaculate.

I’ve rented many apartments in my life, and this experience has been, by far, the least attentive, most confusing and most frustrating. Plus, no matter when I call to ask questions about it, nobody is in the office. Awful.

This apartment is a great place for a temporary stay. Close to NIH Campus and vibrant restaurants and communities. Reliable front desk staff and good safety. Only detraction is the temporary loud construction and hearing footsteps from neighbors in apartment above.

Upstairs at Bethesda Row is a beautiful place to live. Pet friendly, too! It can be a bit noisy as you can hear the people outside eating and shopping but eventually it becomes background noise.

Most of the people are great 😊 The location being close to shops and restaurants is a plus! The apartment building has some minor issues that they resolve when they come about. My apartment on the other has a serious water leak under the floor that hasn’t been resolved since I moved in…. Most of the other issues were resolved within a day or so.

apartment is alright, previous community manager mad removing in a hellacious experience. Best example is calling 24 hrs before driving half way across country to tell that she couldn't honor the lease she agreed to because the current occupant of the unit didn't want to leave. Location is great though

UBR is a great residence with attentive staff and accessibility to many hot spots in the area. One star lost due to some noise at night from the neighbors, maintenance requests marked as resolved when not, and parking garage gate that causes inconvenience sometimes.

Upstairs community is exceptional! Outstanding staff. Pristine environment for family with kids. Two amazing years in this property and We have had a wonderful experience with our apartment. Tina concierge is a lovely person to have greet you coming back home. The entire property is in excellent condition and well cared for by the cleaning crew. Thank you to Elleni for being patient and understanding while negotiating our lease. We will happily continue living here.

We have a mouse infestation and handling it ourselves. The management does not care and has not handled it as an urgent matter. We have had to buy our own supplies. We have thrown away all of our food and no longer feel comfortable about cooking in our apartment

Overall I am happy living at UBR. Took stars away because of the frequent false fire alarms (very bothersome as a mom with a 5 year old at home) and occasional pest issues that are apparently not thoroughly taken care of.

I wish some extra effort would be put into the community events. I know we are still in a pandemic, but saying that you’re handing out antipasti and then handing out lunchables is laughable; these are two distinctly different things. Other communities are using their outdoor space to still have nicer events and we get an avocado or a lunchable.
